• Leaf discolouration (yellowing, bronzing) or premature leaf drop
• Dieback in the tips/branches (dead twigs, receding canopy)
• Bark splitting or sap/ooze from cracks and wounds
• Fungal bodies (mushrooms/brackets) on the trunk, roots or at the base
• Borers – tiny pinholes, sawdust (frass), or chewing damage
• Canopy thinning – patchy crown, smaller-than-normal leaves
• Root plate movement – soil heaving, fresh lean, gaps opening at the base

If you suspect a serious pathogen (e.g. Armillaria root rot), don’t guess — get a professional diagnosis.
